 SPIROMICS-HF

Subpopulations and Intermediate Outcome Measures in COPD Study (SPIROMICS) Heart Failure (HF) Study

The overall objective of the SPIROMICS HF study is to examine heart-lung interactions to suggest new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for COPD and HF. The study will examine specific cardiopulmonary pathophysiological abnormalities in a variety of COPD subtypes, with echocardiography as a key component in determining the cardiac pathophysiology that is unique to each COPD subtype. The other major components include a cardiopulmonary MRI and cardiac risk factors.

 MASALA
Mediators of Atherosclerosis in South Asians Living in America

The purpose of this study is to understand the epidemiology of heart failure among middle to older aged South Asians attending the Year-3 exam.

 DCM Precision Medicine

The purpose of this study is to examine whether DCM-related abnormalities in cardiac mechanics are present in individuals genetically at risk for DCM prior to the development of left ventricular systolic dysfunction and dilation and whether these abnormalities reflect the level of genetic risk.

 REBALANCE- HF
Endovascular Ablation of the Right Greater Splanchnic Nerve in Subjects Having Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction: Randomized Controlled Feasibility Trial

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and initial effectiveness of catheter-based unilateral ablation of the right greater splanchnic nerve (GSN) in comparison to sham procedure in the treatment of patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

 GOAL-HF-1

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and exploratory efficacy of the oral ghrelin agonist AC01 vs placebo in patients with stable ambulatory chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

 ALLAY-HF

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a percutaneously created interatrial shunt using the Alleviant System in patients with chronic heart failure and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) or mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF).

 RIV-HU6-2201/HuMAIN

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of HU6 compared with placebo in the treatment of obese patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

 LEVEL

 HeartShare

The purpose of this study is to perform deep phenotyping of 750 participants with HFpEF and 250 age- and sex- matched controls to identify novel pathophysiological and biological determinants of HFpEF and to identify novel HFpEF subtype

 CHART

Characterizing HIV-related Diastolic Dysfunction

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the determinants, mechanisms, and consequences of diastolic dysfunction in 200 HIV-infected individuals.

 PROMIS

Prevalence Of Microvascular Dysfunction in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction

The primary goal in the present study will be to investigate prevalence of coronary microvascular dysfunction in HFpEF patients as measured by Transthoracic Doppler Echocardiography (TDE) - assisted Coronary Flow Reserve (CFR).

 CHS

Determinants, Trajectories, and Consequences of Abnormal Cardiac Mechanics

The purpose of this study is to determine the association between indices of cardiac mechanics (particularly global longitudinal strain, early diastolic strain rate, and early and late diastolic tissue velocities) and incident heart failure in the Cardiovascular Health Study (CHS).

 MESA

Multi Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis - Early Heart Failure

The Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) is a study of the characteristics of subclinical cardiovascular disease and the risk factors that predict progression to clinically overt cardiovascular disease or progression of the subclinical disease.  MESA researchers study a diverse, population-based sample of 6,814 asymptomatic men and women aged 45-84.  The heart failure ancillary study aims to determine the prevalence, pathogenesis, and phenomics of early heart failure among 3,500 older adults attending the MESA Year-15 exam.

 GRFW

American Heart Association Go Red For Women

The primary purpose of this study is to better understand HFpEF development by investigating how sex differences between males and females affect cardiac, skeletal, vascular, and adipose tissue’s structure and function.
